3. Example: While reading a novel I came across the word crossbow this is what I read
I did not understand what a crossbow is so I looked back over the sentence to find context clues in order to find the meaning of crossbow. I found out that the crossbow had a sideways design and also that it could fire bolts this helped me understand it.
